Launched in 2001, Property Abroad positions itself as a one-stop shop for overseas property buyers. It also owns a large number of other property sites which agent properties are distributed to when they list on Property Abroad.
PropertyIndex.com is a cost-per-lead property portal with an extensive client base, thanks to its backing by one of the internet's first millionaires, Darren Richards, the founder of DatingDirect.com. Advertisers can list on a no lead, no fee basis with no upfront costs.
Homesworldwide.co.uk is the online version of Homes Worldwide magazine, published by Merricks Media, who own a large number of overseas property magazines and guides including Spanish Homes, French Magazine and the Red Guides to buying property.
Rightmove was launched in 2000 by three of the UK’s leading estate agencies and soon established itself as the UK’s most popular property portal. Rightmove became a PLC in March 2006, floating on the London Stock Exchange.
FindaProperty.com launched in 1997 and was bought out in 2004 by Associated Newspapers, which owns UK national newspaper titles the Daily Mail and The Mail On Sunday as well as the Evening Standard and Metro in London.
Propertyfinder is one of the UK’s oldest property portals, having started life in 1995. In November 2005 it was bought by News International (owners of The Times, Sunday Times, The Sun, timesonline.co.uk) and realestate.com.au, Australia’s largest property portal.
This independently owned site was originally launched as a UK-only site in February 2006 and moved into the overseas property sector in April 2007, making it one of the newest multi-country portals.
Launched in 2003, Holprop is a privately owned business based in Canada. The site lists properties in a large number of countries across the globe and translates listings into German, Spanish, French and Dutch and has plans to launch Russian and Italian versions towards the end of 2008.
Launched in March 2007, venture capital-backed Properazzi positions itself as the world’s largest property search engine. They currently list more than 3 million properties aggregating listings from thousands of agents across the globe. Their proprietary technology automatically scrapes your website for property listings and they offer XML feeds for agents wanting greater control.
Launched in November 2005, Property Magnate is run by UK-based First Select Property who have a number of other specialist sites, such as europe-property.org and chateauxproperty.com.
