UK: Sales treble in UK hotspots
Autumn sales in some parts of the UK are running at two to three times last year’s levels according to reports from Savills, Knight Frank and Chesterton Humberts.
The FT reports that sales are strongest in Central London, followed by outer London, the South East, then the South West. Other areas of the country for example the East Midlands and the North have yet to see significant rises.
The rises reflect a renewed confidence in the market, a shortage of stock and critically fears by customers that this stock is drying up. It’s good news but percentage rises should be taken in the context of low absolute sales volumes this time last year.
