UK: Mandatory licencing for UK agents?

UK: Mandatory licencing for UK agents?
The Property Standards Board (PCB) is today calling for mandatory licensing for all UK estate and lettings agents. The PCB is cross-industry initiative founded by the NAEA, ARLA and RICS and has Bill McClintock, the Ombudsman on its board.

Mandatory licensing would help raise industry standards in the eyes of consumers and could result in some agents being struck off for unethical practice.

In my opinion, it would be a step in the right direction for the UK property industry and would bring us closer to the more professional system run by the NAR in the US.

Thus far, successive governments have resisted calls for mandatory licencing.
