Trinity Mirror sells Homes Overseas
UK newspaper giant,
Trinity Mirror has sold Homes Overseas Magazine just 18 months after purchasing the title from independent publishers Globespan Media. Trinity Mirror, who bought the
company for £900,000 in December 2007 has sold back all assets except the website
www.homesoverseas.co.uk to the directors of Globespan Media.
Homesoverseas.co.uk will form part of the Trinity Mirror Digital Division which also includes
Zoomf and
Email4Property. Globespan Media has retained the rights to publish the magazine but it is currently under “strategic review”. The company will continue publishing Show House magazine and organising the What House Awards although both have been struggling to turn a profit since being acquired by Trinity Mirror. The company have retained seven employees including the four original directors of Globespan Media (formerly Blendon Communications), Derek Smith, Rupert Bates, Ian Cunningham and Daniel Hill.
The purchase of Homesoverseas.co.uk by Trinity Mirror should mean further competition in the overseas property portal market as the media giant is likely to throw more financial resources behind it now the portal’s strategy is being overseen by Trinity Mirror’s Head of Digital, David Black.
