Top real estate websites in Europe
Rightmove remains in top spot in our regular analysis of the most-visible English-language overseas property portals.
The UK market leader increased its visibility score by four percent, appearing in Google’s top 20 organic search results for 61% of the popular overseas property keyword phrases we analysed.

Market leaders consolidate their position
Nine of the top ten portals improved their visibility on
February 2010, the last time we collated the data. The biggest increase came from TheMoveChannel.com which improved its visibility from 49% to 58% and moved to second in the table, above FindaProperty.com.
The increase in dominance of the largest portals is evidence that the market is consolidating as the revenues and marketing budgets of the smaller players dry up in the economic downturn.
Biggest movers
The notable exception is Mondinion, which has risen from eighth to fourth in the rankings, appearing in 50% of the searches we analysed.
The most likely reason for
Mondinion’s rise is its unique content strategy. It offers agents unlimited free listings (charging for Premium placements) but it requires manual upload so it never duplicates content with other portals. Mondinion cover

real estate in Cyprus as well as many others.
The other big mover is Property Showrooms which is up from twelfth to sixth position, appearing in 46% of searches. The Spain-based portal is one of the larger overseas property portal businesses and its presence in the top ten is long overdue.
Use this information with care
The data in the table below demonstrates how portals rank on Google on aggregate across more than 500 popular overseas property destinations. It does not necessarily show the portals which are best for the locations where you sell. For example, if you sell Spanish property, there are a number of specialist Spanish sites often do better than some of the bigger generalist portals.
Also, Google visibility, although in our opinion the most important factor, is not the only consideration when choosing partners to work with. Brand strength, content and usability are also important. Our editorial profiles are aimed to help you in this regard.
