With the world’s first-world population ageing fast, medical tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the travel and tourism industry. Medical tourists’ motivation is to get quality healthcare for a fraction of the cost. A proportion of them will end up buying property in the destination and move there permanently. Property Abroad has put together a list of the world’s top five destinations using quality and cost of healthcare as their criteria.
Malaysia – one of the best health care services in the world with English speaking staff
Costa Rica – Hugely popular with US tourists. One of the best and most efficient health care systems
India – An efficient and extremely innovative health care system delivering quality treatments at a fraction of first-world costs. It’s being studied by US and European policymakers according to a recent article in the Economist.
Brazil – Healthcare services have been a major government priority for the government in recent years. Spectacular beaches and huge investment potential to boot.
