Top 10 overseas property destinations for Russian buyers

Top 10 overseas property destinations for Russian buyers
Russian overseas property portal,
1-Property.ru has released statistics on the most popular destinations searched for by its users over the six months to June 2009.

The results correlate with our analysis of the top 50 overseas property destinations searched for by Russians, based on Yandex search engine data undertaken in October last year.  Bulgaria and Spain are the two most popular destinations and Turkey and Montenegro make the top six in both lists.  Outside of Europe, Egypt is the most searched-for location.

Price and location trends
1-Property.ru also report on the locations of users searching for overseas property.  Interestingly, 72% of all searches come from users based in either Moscow (45%) or St Petersburg (27%) reflecting the high concentration of wealth in these cities relative the country as a whole.

Unsurprisingly, given the current economic climate, searches for lower-priced properties have increased substantially with 22% more searches for properties in the $100,000 to $200,000 range compared to the previous 6 months.

USA becomes more attractive for Russian "status" buyers who are looking for great deals on one hand but have never been to the States and want to explore the country. We had a definitive surge of Russian clients in Florida. About 20% of my website visitors are from Russia and former Soviet Union republics.
