A survey of US property buyers by a leading resort consultancy group suggests that some developers may be blindly investing in golf facilities despite the sport not being a “primary driver” of second home demand.

Very interesting survey. I think that landscaping and natural walking trails are very atractive for the senior second home buyer and of course nature and water views.

An interesting study; in my view golf has always been a niche sport for the wealthy few that can afford it, either the monetary cost or the time.

I have never been able to understand it as a motivating factor to buy property and this has been shown clearly in Spain where the highly promoted golf properties of five years ago have been some of the hardest hit.

Interesting article. Surprised there's no mention of some potential shift in developer focus to catering for the growing retiree segment / buyer - more interesting walking and cycle paths etc...
