Spain: No improvement in real estate corruption
Transparency International’s 2009 Global Corruption report shows that Spain has made no improvement since last year, ranking in 28th place (1st place is the least corrupt)..
Over the past five years, Spain has slipped from 22nd to 28th place and is ranked behind only Italy and a number of Eastern European states as one of most corrupt countries in Europe.
Lizcano, President of TI in Spain says corruption in the real estate sector is one of the key reasons for the fall. He describes the measures taken so far to address the problem as “insufficient.”
