Property portals to watch in 2009 - Video
Inman News kindly asked me to speak on "Real estate websites to watch in 2009" at Real Estate Connect on 9th January. The theme I choose was "sites that can generate agents international business". To get on the list, sites had to meet one of two criteria:

  1. They had to have a proven audience of overseas buyers or potential agent partners
  2. If they are new, the sites had to have a unique idea or execution or have significant financial backing

Since speaking, there have been a few pricing and strategic changes at a few of the portals. Please see the corrections at the bottom of the page.

Corrections

  • The new owners of the A Place in the Sun franchise APITS Ltd have the rights to the URL www.aplaceinthesun.com but did not buy the technology for the property portal from the administrators.  This will delay the launch of this portal, perhaps indefinitely
  • Enormo.com's prices now start at 69 Euros a month, not 50
  • Rightmove have recently removed their 6 month minimum comitment and have adopted a more flexible pricing structure.  See our exclusive story here
  • Leads & Agents appear to have ceased trading.  It's still a great idea.  Will anyone else take it on?
  • Lead Galaxy are now owned by The Move Channel.  See our story here.
