PropCap: What you missed

PropCap: What you missed
While you were tucking into your Christmas pudding, the Globaledge team have been hard at work finding and linking to the best real estate stories on the web. Our members have also been busy posting announcements and property deals.  Here’s a roundup of what happened over Christmas and New Year.

Most popular

  • Crystal Ball Predictions for 2009.  Kevin Brass, property blogger for International Herald Tribune gives his predictions for the best markets in 2009.  Watch out for the agent who strongly disagrees with his prediction for the Seychelles and then apologises when he realises he’s confused the Seychelles with the Maldives!

  • New CEO and direction for MRI. The company you all love to hate was in the headlines again.   MRI will now focus on construction and a new separate company, DCC International property has been set up to focus on marketing.  Darragh MacAnthony will spend more time with Peterborough United.  Official announcement here

  • Fictitious Spanish Property Prices. Kyero publish their Q4 house price figures for 2008.  Chief Exeuctive Martin Dell says Spanish agents are still pricing properties too optimistically which is clouding both Kyero’s house price figures and the “official” statistics.  He says a lack of price transparency is contributing towards the current crisis.  Do you agree?

  • Brooklands goes into administration. A legal re-structure with  Brooklands effectively split between a new contract publishing firm headed by former Chief Executive, Darren Styles and APITS Ltd in charge of the A Place in the Sun portfolio with partner Freeform Productions.
