*Cock up or myth?
Hindsight always benefits from 20:20 vision and it is easy to laugh at stories about the excesses of the overseas property boom.

However, one of the most incrediable tales comes from Dubailand, an entertainment and property complex which was set to be twice the size of Disney World and contained 45 mega projects and 200 sub projects.

According to The National journalist Sean Cronin, as construction began, two property developers on adjacent plots began to realise they were both building multi-million dollar replica Taj Mahal’s.

I would have given a lot of money to be a fly on the wall at that particular planning meeting.
