Australia: Developer launches legal case after being “defamed” on TV
A Gold Coast property developer has is suing his former business associate claiming he was defamed by an "extravagant and sensational" story on the Today Tonight show.

Former V8 racing team owner Craig Gore has launched legal action against a former business associate, Sydney builder Ivan McFadyen, suing him for $250,000 in defamation damages.

In a statement of claim filed in the Queensland Supreme Court, Gore alleges that McFadyen, in an interview with Channel Seven's Today Tonight which aired in June, portrayed him as "a habitual liar" who had ripped off "hundreds" of people.

A transcript of the segment, filed in court with Mr Gore's statement of claim, shows McFadyen telling Today Tonight reporter David Richardson that Mr Gore "had no problem looking you straight in the eye and swearing on his mother he would give you back the money ... and he'd never do any of it."

Luckily, I’ve met a few people that fit that description in our industry!

Mr Gore is also taking action against his former helicopter pilot Tom Sutton and his wife Lisa, who Mr Gore claims defamed him when they gave interviews in the same Today Tonight story.   That's one of the reasons we've never employed an helicopter pilot here at Global edge.  It's very difficult to find one that's trustworthy!
